What a director of quality does

The director of quality leads the quality function for a company, division or group of sites and sits in, or reports to, senior leadership. O*NET lists “Quality Director” and “Quality Systems Director” among the titles of quality control systems managers.

In pharma, ICH Q10 states that “senior management has the ultimate responsibility to ensure an effective pharmaceutical quality system is in place,” with visible support, appropriate resources and governance through management review. The director of quality is usually the person who makes that responsibility work in practice.

The CMQ/OE is designed for professionals who lead and champion process improvement.

How AskDona helps

Directors carry ultimate responsibility for evidence they rarely read themselves. AskDona reviews management review inputs, CAPA effectiveness, audit findings and procedures against the regulation or standard you choose and returns a cited summary of where the evidence is strong and where it is thin. Run a sample management-review readiness check for one quarter. AskDona shows the evidence; your quality leadership decides.

Editor’s note: Pay benchmarks are proxies; no public data separates directors of quality. Busy periods are typical patterns, not survey data. The QMM programme is voluntary and applies to drug manufacturers.
